OUR STORY
SafePush is an innovative medical device created by a nurse and a physician who wanted to provide a safer and more efficient way to administer IV pushes of critical care medications.
I am a nurse and attorney who had a client,"Michael", who was hospitalized and needed IV push injections of critical care drugs. Unfortunately, "Michael" was given an IV Push injection too fast by a healthcare provider. "Michael" loss the use of a hand and arm because the IV push injection was delivered too rapidly. This was a preventable error that caused devastating injuries and distress to both the patient and the family.
Our Chief Medical Officer and Co-Founder, Dr. Jim Aiken, has seen the problem of delivering IV Push medications too fast routinely throughout his career. The nursing shortage and short staffing along with provider burnout only compound the problem.
Today, there are no safe or expeditious devices or methods to deliver IV push injections at the correct rate.
SafePush is an innovative tool for healthcare providers that will prevent human error and eliminate the IV Push Problem.
THE PROBLEM
- IV Push injections of critical care drugs are administered too fast causing death and serious injuries
- Current Standard of Care is the CLock Watching Method where providers watch a clock/watch and guesstimate the rate of delivery of critical care drugs.
- Current Standard of Care leads to an increase in human errors resulting in fatal outcomes or catastrophic injuries.
- Research articles and national healthcare provider focus groups validate the need to replace the current standard of care which is not safe because it does not prevent IV pushes from being delivered too fast.
OUR TECHNOLOGY
SafePush TM is a patented, user friendly , disposable device that removes the guesswork in timed deliveries of IV push injections of critical care medications.
